Dental implant questions

DENTAL IMPLANT QUESTIONS – What are dental implants?

A dental implant is as close as you can get to having your original tooth back. This can be done to replace a single tooth, multiple teeth or a full mouth.

What are the advantages of dental implants?

Dental implants look, feel and function as close as possible to your natural teeth. There is no need for you to have the embarrassment of a plate or plastic in your mouth and there is no need to damage healthy teeth, which is needed for bridges. Dental implants are life changing and can help you to enjoy eating your food with confidence.

Do dental implants look real?

One of the big upsides of implants is that they are designed to look like your natural teeth, with the cosmetic crown placed on top of the implant being colour matched to your teeth. We can even eliminate or include imperfections so they look very natural.

How does a tooth implant feel?

Our patients tell us that they can’t feel any difference from the rest of their teeth.

Can you eat normally with dental implants?

One of the main advantages is that you can eat normally and enjoy food again. You can enjoy things which are hard such as apples, carrots, steak and even crusty bread without pain. They act just like normal teeth.

Is having dental implants painful?

Dental implants can be carried out under local anaesthetic and are often easier than having a tooth taken out. We also offer sedation (sleep dentistry) which makes you drowsy so you won’t remember much about the procedure. Most of our patients tell us that they didn’t need to take any pain killers after the first day of treatment.
